The Occasional Gardener: Ideas + Aesthetics + Inspiration from the Garden

Cheapskate Gardening

This is a term I saw in a recent article in the NYTimes about Slow Gardening. It's a concept that fuses well with green sensibilites as it promotes use of recyled items like turning old tires into planters and uses paint buckets as pots. Joe Lamp'l aka Joegardener who was quoted in the article has a great post on the use of freecycle as a source for garden supplies. He takes the concept further with his series called twenty-five dollar organic victory garden on his blog. There's also this great post from last year in the Guardian called thrifty gardener. The image is from an instructable called Greenhouse From Old Windows.
